Hello everyone Today I will be explaining to you all how to burn Deriks Boot and Nuke 2.2.6 (Beta) to a cd / dvd

First off lets go to DBAN.org
Derik's Boot and Nuke's homepage
Click Download.

Okay now that you have clicked download, and have downloaded version 2.2.6 (Beta)

THIS NEXT STEP IS IMPORTANT OR IT WILL NOT WORK

Once you have it downloaded place it on your desktop and do not extract it from the .rar or .iso or .zip just place the
downloaded file somewhere you can find it easily

Next were going to download a .iso burner that is free

now go to google.com and search for (Active@ Iso)

The next step will require a DVD-R or CD-R Drive

Okay place a blank CD or DVD into your DVD-R or CD-R drive and open Active@ Iso

Once you open Active@ Iso find the place where you saved the .rar .zip .iso DBAN you downloaded it will automatically
be classified as a .iso now that you have an iso burner

once you have that file selected click burn and then you have DBAN sucessfully written to your blank disk

Next I will Explain to you how to use this

First you will need the drive reader of either CD or DVD which ever you decided to burn DBAN to.

Then go to the computers bios your going to be doing this on and set it to boot from cd first.

Now place the disk in the tray and reboot and boot from CD

You should see this as the following screen.

Now if you just want a default wipe that has default settings that are friendly for your hdd and shouldn't destroy it
or you just don't want to go into the technical aspects of setting up the nuke just type autonuke in the line and
youll be good to go.

If you didnt choose auto nuke I suggest pressing F3 so you can choose the way your drive will be nuked
Your choices are

Qucik Erase- Which is only 1 wipe of the hdd.
DoD- Which is the american Department of Defense method which will wipe your drive 7 times
DoD- Short which is the Department of Defense Shorter quicker method which will wipe your drive 3 times
RCMP- Royal Canadian Mounted Police's method which will wipe your drive 8 Times
Guttman- Peter Gutmanns method of wiping a HDD which will wip ethe drive 35 times
PRNG- Which is a random combination of wipes total times drive will be wiped varies

Now this video is made by Britec, and the time he explains or guesses are not completely accurate for instance he will mention
Gutmann will take a few days because of the amount of wipes but hes speaking amount of time based on his hard drive size
which was 130gb
I did this ona 40 gb and took me roughly 14 hours
I reccomend the Gutmann wipe if you have something to hide.
