Just wanted to share a little trick to improve your sales and visibility.
Foremost, in the business world there are two (main) markets--the consumer market and the business market.
The consumer market is considered emotional and sensitive to feelings.
(Economists, however, view consumers as logical and rational. I know, it's contradicting, but just a little fact.)
The business market is considered logical and very keen on numbers.
What does this mean? Well, on Ebay you are selling to consumers all the time. So how do you appeal to their emotions?
Good presentation.
On your listings, don't do this:
I'm selling a small hollister t shirt, red and no stains. PayPal only and will ship fast. Feel free to ask any questions.
I mean, I used good grammar in this example but it's nothing spectacular. It works, but it won't stick in the customer's mind.
So what you need to do is this:
1. Make 5 banners or let someone design them for you. One banner for each word:
a. Description
b. Shipping
c. Payment
d. Support
e. Returns
Simply head to
http://www.mybannermaker.com/
and make one for each. Keep the fonts the same and don't make them too big!! Just enough to see.
Once you made them:
1. Make a Photobucket account
2. Make an album for your Ebay Account logos/banners
3. Upload your logos/banners
4. Use the provided links to include the pictures in your listings
Create a listing in your Ebay account and save the template, which can be done. The following, which I slightly edited, is what I use for my sales:
That's it. So what did you just do? Well, just improve your (what I like to call)
aesthetic performance. You didn't change your product or motto, just improved your visibility. And yes, it makes a big difference. Presentation shows you put effort into something and it's an impression. And yes, you should be proud of it.
A little bonus info:
Change your Ebay's account name to something catchy and not generic. Everyone uses generic store names on Ebay and it's low-class selling. So steer clear from names such as "All Electronics Shop" or "Joes Closet Clothing or even "Daily Shopping Deals". Instead, use proprietary names that depict a personality.
For example, if my Ebay listings were all about clothing I would call it "Campbell Clothing" or "KC Clothing". Or, if I had electronics to sell, I would call it "Virtual Clash" or maybe "Campbell Dynamic". Sounds like uncommon names but believe me, the next step is what makes it better. Afterwards, pay someone $5 to $20 to design a logo and use it in the top of your listings. That way, you create your own brand and it sticks in the customer's mind. If opt to use a proprietary name of your own, I strongly suggest you to have some sort of logo. If not, your name will be almost random, not stick in the customer's mind and defeat it's own purpose.
Some extra tips:
-Make the selling terms easy to understand.
-Strive for positivity and not negativity. In other words, don't say "SUBMIT PAYMENT IN 3 DAYS", instead say "We allow 3 days for payment but if you need any arrangements, we'll work with you."
-The more pictures you add, the more simple and concise your item's description can be.
-People love fast shipping, so let your buyers know you can ship the next day post-payment. That kicks my sales big time.
-Offer free shipping, and put it in your Buy It Now price. Don't worry, it'll still sell according to Supply and Demand.
-Research your item on Ebay and price it lower (5% less), if you can. If you can't, price it a bit higher and add a small bonus or add faster shipping time.
-After your item reached your buyer, send them a small message telling them to
please leave you feedback because that encourages you to be a better seller.
-Have fun and always take advantage of Ebay's 50 free monthly listings.
Everything I shared is pure marketing. I am a marketing major so I am very passionate and visionary. Hope this helps someone and please feel free to rep me. Thank you.
