Welcome to E-Millionaire Interviews,
Today we have a very special guest, his name is Ken and he is the founder of one of the most prestigious networks in the industry, Affillion. They have a great team and they all go by the phrase, "Money never sleeps." Lightening fast support, friendly affiliate managers, and tons of hot offers!
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself. How old are you? Where do you live?
So I'm 24 years old, I feel like a dinosaur already considering that most affiliates out there are teens lol. I currently live in Miami, Florida, I have been here my whole life and really love it here, you can't really get a better location than this. Some brief history about me that not many people out there know, I have always been into web design/development since I first touched a computer like 12 years ago, I used to build sites for friends, family, and even some small businesses when first starting out. I always considered it a hobby while in school and even had it as a side business during college to have some extra cash to spend, it was definitely lucrative. Going to college and getting an education was always a high priority for me in life so I made sure I went above and beyond than what most people do. I received my Bachelors in Information Technology at the age of 20 and decided to go further and receive my Masters in Management Information Systems at the age of 21. I figured that I had enough knowledge in the tech world that I should expand my business side, so the following year I went ahead and got my MBA. I was the first student in my University to receive that many degrees by the age of 22.
2. How long have you been working in this industry and how did you get involved?
I have been part of the online world for a long time now but I was mainly into web development, I never ventured into affiliate marketing until about 4 years ago. My business partner Jared Esguerra and I have been long time friends since high school and we even started some websites on the side before starting Affillion. The company is fairly new, it is just over 2 years old, before that both us were actual affiliates ourselves and did mostly dating traffic. We definitely made a ton of money off of it back in the day, more than anyone from our age was making, but that business being so shady led us to look elsewhere for income.
3. Please tell us how you came about starting Affillion and what you guys do?
So we were affiliates ourselves way before starting Affillion, we tried all the major networks out there but honestly they were all just so bad
with support. Affiliate managers will ignore you half the time and barely even answer your emails, it was a pain in the ass to deal with them. We decided to start our own network with the best support we could possibly offer and get help from all of our friends to tell us what all these networks were lacking, with all of this info gathered we began Affillion and it just took off like crazy!
4. If people have more questions about Affillion can they contact you Ken?
Yea of course! They can reach me at my email
ken@affillion.com or on Skype Affillionk I'm always online so I can easily be reached :)
5. What are your future expansion ideas?
We currently shifted gears at Affillion and decided to focus more on email submits and mobile offers, these verticals have always been best for us and we know them inside out. We've tried the other major verticals but most of the time its a hassle to deal with traffic quality and the outcome wasn't so great.
6. What are your favourite traffic sources? What niche has worked best for you?
We will honestly take any source if the traffic quality is there but from our current traffic the top ones have been in social and email. Social traffic is always up and down and very inconsistent but email has been the most stable for us.
7. What was your biggest success to date?
I would say starting Affillion and being able to keep up with everyone in the industry, you see tons of networks being started everyday but hardly any get passed the first year, so I'm happy to say that we have passed that mark and have kept growing since day 1.
8. If you could give one tip to the newcomers starting out in this vast growing industry what would it be?
The best tip I would give is to focus on one niche, there are many people that try to do everything at once and nothing ever works out. A second tip that would greatly help them out is if they JV with someone already in the business, this will greatly increase their chances of succeeding.
9. What are your goals for 2012?
Our goals for 2012 is to keep expanding Affillion into foreign markets as well as keeping our support top notch as we always have.
10. Give us a little glimpse into what a typical day in your life looks like.
I'm sure my life doesn't differ much from other people out there, I'm stuck to my computer 24/7 lol, I have my meals throughout the day and head to the gym when I get free time. One thing I try to focus on the most is eating and staying healthy, sitting down most of the day isn't good for anyone so I avoid eating bad foods and drinking tons of water to keep my body top notch.
11. Thanks Ken, if there is anything else you would like to say to the members of the eMillion community now is the time!
I've seen this forum go from being a small time site to something major and I'm glad I can be part of it, it's great to have an alternative forum that actually has high quality content unlike other crappy ones out there.
