RE: what is music

The reason we have rhythm and beat in music (yes and harmony) is due to the human body being in sync with the heart, which has a particular beat. Music, to be music, must either be rhythmic, or dis-rhythmic. This is when the beat is in time with the heart or not. Some people don't like "hardcore music" like rap, rock and heavy pop or electronic tracks, because they are dis-rhythmic. One of the most famous songs to show dis-rhythmic music is Queens - We Will Rock You.
Rhythmic music is music such as country, symphonies and ballads. Also most soft rock.
Music is music no matter how much skill it takes to create, as long as it can evoke an emotional feeling in someone else. Also music doesn't have to have an obvious or even deep meaning, as much as we might like it too.
As a fellow metal head, and all around music lover, it breaks my heart to see the path the popular music is taking these days and the shallowness of the lyrics and sound content makes my ears ache. But i can't deny that it is music.
It may not be meaningful, but it is music.
your so right on that n in so many ways thanks for clarifying
