Its Christmas time, people are doing a shitload of shopping online right now. Companies are going to be getting more complaints than they normally do because of the increase of purchases. With an increase in purchases comes an increase in errors, especially SHIPPING and PACKAGING errors. Most of the time these don't even relate to the company (the shipping errors) but they usually have to take responsibility for the anyway. The Packaging errors are definitely very likely as well, when they are rushing employees to get shit out before a deadline.
So, use this to your advantage if your attempting Mail Fraud or just general Social Engineering.
Blend your Corporate Manipulation so that it looks natural.
This goes for any Holiday, not just Christmas. Black Friday and CYber Monday are over, but this is 10x more effective then as well.
Its not just about making it easier, although it definitely will, its about covering up your own ass even easier.
Remember, always acknowledge that its a Holiday etc and you assume they are busy etc.
EDIT:
And for anyone else reading this, fyi, right after Christmas (now) is a great time for returns to get 'misplaced' and to complain about what your parents got you ;0
