Creating an Action-Adventure Style Game! MAINLY NEED CODERS AND TEXTURE DESIGNERS!!! - Echo182 - 02-24-2012 05:27 PM

Hey guys, I am Echo182, also known as zZnick5000Zz. I am recruiting a team to help me make a game. We will use unity3d as well as other programs that are needed. We do have a lot of information about what the game is about, but don't want to share it all, so here is a basic summary of the game:

You are a 14 year old boy/girl(there will be character customization) that wakes up on a distant planet. (Note that this does happen 500 years from now where everything on Earth is advanced in technology). The planet, as odd as it is, is a prehistoric planet, with some civilizations. The people on that planet are a bit strange and talk weird compared to you. The goal of the game is to help create technology to build a way for you to get back to Earth, as well as fend off the evil source on the planet. Note that this won't be a short game, it will probably be long. If this game is successful, we might create more games. Now here is what the team is, and what I need:

Project Director - Someone who leads the project, helps out on a bit of everything, but mainly comes up with ideas. This person also tests the game for bugs.

1. zZnick5000Zz

Assistant Director - Someone who helps the Project Director, tests the game, and comes up with ideas. This slot can't be requested, as you will be picked by the Project Director(me) to earn this spot. You still secondarily do the position that you had before this, even after being chosen.

1.

Coders - People who do the main coding for the game. These people also secondarily test the game for bugs.

1.

2.

3.

4.

5.

Music Makers/Sound Effect Makers - People who make songs for the game, and make little sounds for the game(such as footsteps or rain).

1. NaNdummy

2.

Texture Designers - People who design all the texture for the game.

1.

2.

3d Modelers - People who make 3d models for the game.

1. HawkofAll

2.

Beta Tester - Someone who constantly tests every last thing in the game to make sure there are 0 bugs. Also comes up with ideas.

1. TheBlackAcorn

I formed a small team before going here. So, if you would like to join, please tell us. We currently use Skype to chat so let us know your Skype name so you can join in on our conversations and help build the game.

WHAT WE HAVE SO FAR:

We have a somewhat extensive list of ideas for the game, and we also have started on the first area where the game starts.

If the game is ready to play I could play it and look around if there are any bugs.
So I want to be a beta tester!

Sorry, no more beta tester spots are open, so you have to get a different positions.

I use to create games using Unity3d and it is a powerful system, so my question is to you will be... WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?!?!

If you are really serious about success in creating games then you need to head over to the Unity3d forums and build a team. Most coders, modelers, level designers will not help you at all if you can not do anything but give orders, by telling others what to do.

You say you are the Project Director, so you mainly just tell people what to do, and come up with ideas but do you know how to code? Do you know how to model? Do you know how to use Bender? How about zBrush? Or maybe Max?

I am not trying to down your thread, but before you can succeed in this, you really need to be able to do other things then just come up with ideas. For example, if I knew how to model and code then why would I be taking orders from someone that doesn't know anything but coming up with ideas?

You also said that you will be helping out with a bit of everything, so I am also guessing that you have some coding experience, or can model a character. Learn something then head over to Unity3d forums and make a nice laid out thread about what you need, what you can do, and what your game will be about.

Also, you are missing from that list the following jobs needed:

Concept Artist
Story Writer
Proof Reader
Level Designer
That is just to name a few...

Also you are not telling anyone which type of code this game will be written in. I believe C# is the best for coding a game, and I think Java is the easiest.

We are using Java to code, and I am a very good modeler and texture designer.
